Bio - COL Ted Jennings

COL Ted JenningsCOL Ted Jennings was accessed into the Army Acquisition Corps (AAC) in June 1990, became a full member in May 1997, and in October 2000 he was Level 3 Certified in Program Management. Before becoming the PM, DoD Biometrics within the Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systmes, he was assigned as the Senior Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics).

COL Jennings began his active duty military career in 1983 as a Combat Engineer Platoon Leader in Heilbronn, Germany with the 237th Engineer Battalion (7th Engineer Brigade, VII Corps); within the same unit, he was also the Assistant S-3 and a Company Executive Officer.

While serving as a Combat Engineer Officer, COL Jennings completed a successful command of Alpha Company, 17th Engineer Battalion, 2d Armored Division at Ft. Hood, TX.  Additionally, he was the Commander, 17th Engineer Battalion (Rear) (Provisional), the 2d (St. Lo) Brigade Engineer, and served on the 2d Armored Division G-4 Staff.

His acquisition assignments include serving as the Grizzly Product Manager (PM) as well as the Product Manager (Provisional) for the Theater Support Vessel (TSV); his assistant PM experience includes managing the Common Bridge Transporter System for the Project Manager Heavy Tactical Vehicles and he also managed the Non-Self Destruct Anti-Personnel Landmine prototype assessment test for the Project Manager Mines, Countermines and Demolitions.  His other acquisition assignments include Lead technical independent evaluator on the Command and Control Vehicle program and a reliability analyst (Grizzly, Up-Armored HMMWV, Cab-Over HMMWV, and Crusader programs) at AMSAA (Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity).  He has had two assignments within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology); his first was Chief of Operations for Systems Management and then as the Executive Officer to the Deputy Assistant for Acquisition and Systems Management. 

COL Jennings holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University and a Master of Science degree in Metallurgy from Georgia Tech.  He received a Regular Army Commission through the ROTC program and was a Distinguished Military Graduate. Other military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Armor Officer Advance Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the resident Command and General Staff officer Course, the Advanced Program Manager course, and the resident Army War College.  His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), and Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC). He has also been awarded the Corps of Engineer’s Bronze de Fleury and the Transportation Corps Saint Christopher medals.

COL Jennings was born in Stevens Point, WI.  He is married to the former Dianne Ross of Brentwood, TN.  The Jennings’ have three children (Mark, Stephen, and John) and a pet collie (Samson).
