CDR Cliff Neve - Biography

Commander Cliff Neve is the Chief of Operations at Coast Guard Cyber Command, where he is responsible for formulating the vision for cyber security and leveraging cyber operations for Coast Guard missions.  Prior to this assignment he served as Assistant C4ISR Program Manager (CG-9335), where he led information technology acquisitions for all new cutters and aircraft including the National Security Cutter. 

From 2003-2006 he served at the White House Communications Agency, where he participated in the largest Presidential Communications Upgrade in White House history.  He served as Chief of Engineering and Chief Enterprise Architect before assuming the role of Deputy Chief Information Officer in 2005.  Commander Neve was assigned to the Radio Systems Division at the Coast Guard’s Telecommunications & Information Systems Command (TISCOM) in Alexandria, VA, from 2003-2006.  During this assignment he prepared several cutters for deployment to the Persian Gulf, and he deployed to Bahrain in 2003 to successfully install secure communications systems on four patrol boats and a 378’ cutter operating in the Persian Gulf.  

Commander Neve graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  He earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington in 1999, and a Master of Science in Government Information Leadership from National Defense University in 2011.

His military awards include: the Presidential Service Badge, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals.

Commander Neve was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, and raised in nearby Bellevue, Michigan.  He is married to the former Marilyn Ruef of Liberty Lake, Washington.  They have four children (Jerod, Brittany, Jordan, Tyler) and two grandchildren (Savannah, Pierce).
