COL Anthony R. Williams - Biography
Colonel Anthony Renell Williams graduated from Truman State University in 1984 and was commissioned in the US Army Signal Corps. From 1985 to 1986 he served as Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer for Charlie Company, 26th Signal Battalion, 93rd Signal Brigade. In 1986, he was assigned to the 11th Aviation Combat Brigade, in Schwabish Hall, GE, as the Brigade Signal Officer. In 1990, COL Williams was assigned the duties of the Battalion S-4/Maintenance Officer for the HHC, 5th Signal Battalion, 5th Infantry Division; and later Commander, Alpha Company, 5th Signal Battalion, 5th Infantry Division. 5th Infantry Division reflagged to 2nd Armored Division in 1992 where COL Williams closed his command tour as Commander, Alpha Company, 142nd Signal Battalion, 2nd Armored Division and assumed the duties as the Division Signal Officer, (ADSO). From 1994 to 1996, COL Williams was assigned to the Signal Officer Advanced Course as a Small Group Leader, assigned to the 442nd Signal Battalion, 15th Signal Brigade. In 1997, COL Williams assumed the duties of Deputy G-6, 3rd Infantry Division (Mech); and in 1998 became the Executive Officer for the 123rd Signal Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division (Mech). In 1999, COL Williams was assigned as a Communication Watch Officer for the Deputy Director for Operation within the National Military Command Center; he was later assigned as the Chief, C4I Support Branch; and Chief, NMCC Operations Division, Joint Staff Support Center, Defense Information Systems Agency. From 2002 to 2003, COL Williams served as the Commander, 54th Signal Battalion in Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He concluded his Southwest Asia tour in 2004 as the Deputy Commander for the 160th Signal Brigade. COL Williams was reassigned to the Pentagon as the Chief, CIO-G6/NETCOM Current Operations Cell. He is currently assigned as the Chief, Battle Command Division Directorate of Material, Force Development, G-8, Washington, DC.
COL Williams’ military education includes the Signal Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Command and General Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College. COL Williams holds a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA and a Masters of Arts in Business Administration from Webster University St. Louis, MO.
COL Williams’ military awards include the Bronze Star, six awards of the Meritorious Service Medal, 4 awards of the Army Commendation Medal, 2 awards of the Army Achievement Medal, Joint Chiefs of Staff badge and the Army Staff badge.
COL Williams and his wife Vanita have two children, Kelley and Kelcey.
