U.S. CYBERCOM was created to deal with DOD cyber issues from a national perspective. There are some aspects of cyber, notably the 'operate and defend' missions that have a direct impact on a geographic combatant commander's ability to accomplish assigned missions. General Bolton will lead a panel that begins to explore these issues from the IT warfighters perspective, addressing topics such as policy, delivery and ultimately integration from a cyber perspective. He will speak to the efforts to coordinate cyber operations from the perspective of a single Armed Service - exploring the landscape of where Cyber Policy meets front-line IT Warfighter, and where service operations meets COCOM operations. General Ranck will address initiatives to provide an integrated capability with the goal of serving the warfighter's needs and eliminating the information seams that divide capabilities. Mr. Mark Orndorff will speak to the delivery of responsive, secure and inter-operable net-centric solutions to the warfighter and how that responsibility is perceived from the DISA perspective.
The Luncheon will be a preview for the Chapter's Cybersecurity Symposium on July 15th, where we will do a deeper dive into the state of DoD cyber coordination, one-year after the stand-up of U.S. Cyber Command.
We will also have a very special recognition ceremony for our Military IT Heroes - 14 soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast guardsmen who have made significant contributions to the Warfighter through the use of Information Technology. We will honor service members that are both enlisted and officers, and those in joint billets as well as serving in the five Armed Services.
For depth of content, and the chance to thank those who have done so much to serve our Nation, the AFCEA DC May Monthly Luncheon is not to be missed!
