Bio - Bobby Laurine

Bobby LaurineDr. Robert H. Laurine Jr., serves as the NGA Chief Information Officer (CIO). As CIO, he is a member of the NGA Executive Committee, providing oversight to NGA’s Enterprise Operations and Acquisition Directorates, and is responsible for NGA’s IT Governance Structure and investment planning. Dr. Laurine represents the Agency at external boards and forums such as the DNI CIO Executive Committee, DoD CIO Executive Board and the Intelligence Community Information Sharing Steering Committee. Prior to his current position, Dr. Laurine was dual-hatted as the CIO and Director, Enterprise Operations Directorate, leading an organization responsible for maintaining the NGA IT Infrastructure and providing timely and relevant Geospatial Intelligence (GeoINT) to NGA’s domestic and foreign partners.

Dr. Laurine is an exceptional Agency leader who oversees a diverse workforce of over 4,000 government, contractor, and military personnel, and is responsible for the execution of an annual budget exceeding $1.5 Billion. He ensures the requirements of cost, reliability, efficiency, and information security are met and exceeded. His accomplishments include: the delivery of an NGA IT Strategic Plan, being recognized by OMB as the model for the rest of the Intelligence Community to follow for meeting FISMA standards, implementing a robust Agency Business Continuity Plan, and enabling Enterprise Operations Directorate to become the first organization in America to become ISO 9000, BS15000, and ISO 27001 certified.

Previously, Dr. Laurine served as NGA’s Business Executive responsible for agency level cross cutting issues and matters such as facility planning, investment portfolio planning, financial program execution and resource management (requirements, funding and return on investments), including timely performance of internal planning and program execution. Dr. Laurine also served as Deputy Director of NGA’s InnoVision Directorate and Director of Research and Development for NGA. In these positions, Dr. Laurine was responsible for forecasting future environments, defining future needs, establishing plans to align resources, and providing technology and process solutions to lead NGA, its customers and partners into the future.

Dr. Laurine received Bachelors’ of Science Degrees’ in Geology and Computer Science from the University of Maryland, a Master’s of Science Degree in Computer Science from The George Washington University, and a Doctorate of Science Degree in Engineering Management from the George Washington University. Dr. Laurine was most recently recognized for his outstanding government service by being selected for the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award.

Dr. Laurine’s hobbies include running, gardening, fishing, and geology. He resides in Woodbine, MD with his two teenage daughters, Stephanie and Rebecca.
