Our breakfast panel will discuss issues and future applications involving cross-domain solutions, providing business development professionals the opportunity to learn about future uses for this technology and have a dialog with subject matter experts.
Cross-domain solutions are continuing to grow in importance as organizations work toward operationalizing intelligence information. They allow information collected at one security level to be used to support operations working at lower security levels. For example, SECRET information can be transferred to an FOUO domain permitting un-cleared operators to use the sanitized information to support operations. This allows intelligence information to be more easily used to support real world operations. Conversely, open source information can be passed to systems operating at higher security levels allowing intelligence professionals to obtain better situational awareness.
Multi-domain initiatives, such as the FAA's NextGen program can use cross-domain solutions to securely transfer information between domains. An example of this would be an airline transferring cargo information to TSA. TSA needs the information to perform its Homeland Security function, but the information needs to be protected from the airline's competitors. Similarly, TSA may need to distribute threat information to the airlines community, but does not want to pass along attributes that would give away sources or methods.
