Bio - MG Steven Smith
Major General Steven W. Smith is the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, Manpower & Reserve Affairs (M&RA). He recently returned from his dual-hatted assignment as the Commanding General of the 335th Theater Signal Command and as the ARCENT G6 headquartered at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait As the Theater Signal Commander, he was responsible for 2800 personnel providing communications and technical support with the CENTCOM AOR.
In his previous position as Director for the U.S. Army Cyberspace
Task Force, Major General Smith was responsible for the development,
implementation and execution of the Army's cyberspace strategy. He was
also responsible for the Army's cyber-related information technology
systems and subsystems.
Major General Smith is a Distinguished Military Graduate of The Citadel, where he holds a BS in Education. He also holds an MS in Public Administration from Western Kentucky University, and an MS in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
Major General Smith has served in Command and Staff positions within the Active Component, Army National Guard, and the Army Reserve. His military education includes Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Senior Transportation Officer Qualification Course, Military Police Officer Advanced Course, Chemical Officer Advanced Course, United States Army Command and General Staff College, and the United States Army War College.
His decorations include the Legion of Merit (with Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), and the Army Achievement Medal.
