About the Symposium

The 3rd Annual AFCEA DC Cybersecurity Symposium will focus on the state of the U.S. cyber protection one year after the stand-up of U.S. Cyber Command - the partnerships, relationships, dependencies, policies, and reach that must achieved to fulfill the Federal cyber mission.  We will explore CYBERCOM’s interface with the five Military Services, the Unified Commands/COCOMs, DHS, Civilian Agencies, Industry, and Coalition Partners - as these enmeshed interrelationships unfold, and the framework for collaboration strengthens.

The Symposium will provide a platform for officials in the Military Services, OSD, DHS, Federal Civilian Agencies, the Administration, & Congress, to share their goals, needs, requirements and challenges with a large audience of professionals in the field who can help to achieve the cyber mission of protecting America.  We are planning for panels that explore:

  • Consolidation, Cybersecurity & the Cloud: A Holistic View of Cyber Issues in the Private Cloud vs. Public Cloud Debate, which will also touch on the reorganization of DoD CIO, & CYBERCOM

  • CYBERCOM/NSA’s role in Protecting Critical Infrastructure & Preventing Cyber Disaster: Sharing threat information across the Military & across Agencies

  • CYBERCOM One Year Later: Integration, Penetration & Operationalization, which will feature J2s/3s/5s from the CYBERCOM Component Commands and/or COCOMs

We are also planning a series of keynotes from CYBERCOM, DoD, DISA, & DHS.

The 3rd Annual AFCEA DC Cybersecurity conference builds upon the success of last year’s Cybersecurity Symposium, as well as AFCEA DC’s recent Mobile Symposium Conference back in March. Based on last year’s conference with 700 attendees, we fully expect attendance at the Cybersecurity Symposium this year to be a full-house of 800+ attendees.
