This year the Corcoran highlights the work of John Singer Sargent. In "Sargent and the Sea", the Corcoran Gallery of Art brings together for the first time more than 80 paintings, watercolors, and drawings depicting seascapes and coastal scenes from the early career of this pre-eminent American expatriate painter of the late 19th century.
The AFCEA DC Winter Gala Committee has received "widely attended gathering" approval from the Army General Counsel (please see below). Additional "widely attended gathering" rulings are pending from each Military Service & OSD. While we believe the AFCEA DC Winter Gala constitutes a "widely attended gathering," it is up to each Federal employee to consult with his/her ethics counsel to make that determination prior to attending. Additional approvals will be posted below as they become available.
The Department of the Army finds that, for the purpose of merely attending the Winter Gala, a fundraising event, and accepting free attendance to the event by Army personnel, in their personal capacities, as specified in 5 C.F.R. 2635.204(g)(2), Widely Attended Gatherings, the event is widely attended. Army personnel may not accept free attendance at this event, however, until their supervisors make a determination that attendance is in the interest of the Army. Other gift acceptance exceptions under DoD rules or 5 C.F.R. 2635.204 may also apply. AFCEA is not a registered lobbying organization so the additional restrictions of the political appointee ethics pledge do not apply to this event.
