AFCEA DC ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR 2009-2010
Members to Help Shape Chapter’s Programs, Focus on Increasing Scholarship Contributions
Washington, DC — July 20, 2009 — The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association’s DC Chapter (AFCEA DC), a non-profit association focused on promoting higher education in the hard sciences, mathematics, computer technology, and engineering, today announced its newly elected Board of Directors for the 2009-2010 season. Each member will have voting privileges and will provide strategic direction to drive contributions to the AFCEA DC scholarship program.
“AFCEA DC is focused on ensuring that our events remain at the highest caliber and continue to provide our members with valuable educational and networking opportunities,” said AFCEA DC President Tina Jordan. “We rely on our Board of Directors to provide strategic direction as well as actively engage in these events. The incoming class consists of executives from both large and small businesses with a wide-range of Department of Defense (DoD) and Information Technology (IT) experience. We welcome them to the AFCEA DC Board.”
As part of their responsibilities, the new Board of Director members will focus on continuing AFCEA DC’s successful events including the monthly luncheon series, seasonal executive-level events, golf tournament, and scholarship program. The following provides a brief background on each new Board member:
- Barbara J. “Bobbie” Browning, Vice President, Federal Consulting, GovDelivery, Inc. (Class of 2009-2012)
Ms. Browning is a very experienced and accomplished leader within the world of federal government software solutions, where she has been supporting federal clients for more than 25 years. She currently leads the federal team for GovDelivery, a leading provider of government-to-citizen communication solutions.
- Colonel (Ret.) Joseph “Tom” Catudal, Vice President of Enterprise Solutions,
L-3 Communications (Class of 2009-2012)
COL (Ret.) Catudal focuses on delivering enterprise solutions across the federal, defense, and commercial market spaces for L-3 Enterprise IT Solutions. He served over 26 years with the U.S. Army in Joint, Coalition, and Army positions including the Joint Staff Deputy CIO; the CIO/C6 for the Coalition Provisional Authority, Iraq; and the Director of Logistics Information Management, Army
G-4.
- Wayne Fullerton, Director, Solutions Operations for Cisco Federal , Cisco Systems, Inc. (Class of 2009-2012)
Mr. Fullerton leads a team focused on the sales of Advanced Networking Technologies into the federal government. In this role, Mr. Fullerton has helped the organization move into solution selling and enhanced the experience with the end customer. This high touch model has improved customer satisfaction and moved Cisco into a mission partner status with its government customers.
- David Kapusta, Client Executive for the United States Navy and Marine Corps, IBM (Class of 2008-2011)
Mr. Kapusta works with Naval customers to support their mission and business needs, leveraging IBM’s capabilities and maintaining customer satisfaction. He manages IBM’s team and coordinates with its major lines of business to focus efforts on the Navy’s most significant challenges.
- Lisa Newell, Executive Associate, Business Growth Associates (Class of 2007-2010)
Ms. Newell has over 27 years of experience in the federal sector, receiving numerous awards for capturing the largest contracts for some of the most prominent companies in the world. Her responsibilities have included operations and business development, service integration, solutions development, and information security.
- William “Bill” O’Neill, Regional Vice President, Sales, Qwest Government Services (Class of 2009-2012)
Mr. O’Neill is a seasoned executive in the federal market with nearly 30 years of service, leadership, and innovation. He has a long and successful track record of managing major accounts in the defense, civilian, and secure business areas, as well as leading teams that provide end-to-end IT telecommunications solutions.
- Vice Admiral (Ret.) Patricia A. “Pat” Tracey, Vice President, Defense Industry and Development, EDS (Class of 2009-2012)
VADM Tracey is expanding HP and EDS’ strategies for growth in the defense sector. She brings 34 years of experience in defense business operations.
- Jim Young, Manager, DoD, Google (Class of 2009-2012)
Mr. Young is a Manager on Google’s DoD team. He has worked for the Directorate of Science and Technology at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Walt Disney Company, and has over 10 years experience in the IT industry focusing on innovative DoD and Intelligence Community solutions.
- Ben Romero, Director, Intelligence & Cyber Programs, Lockheed Martin Washington Operations (Class of 2009-2012)
Mr. Romero brings a comprehensive knowledge of national security with over 39 years of professional experience in the DoD/USAF, Intelligence Community, and Lockheed Martin. He is responsible for assisting in horizontally integrating business opportunities and interfacing with management on key policy and legislative issues pertaining to Intelligence and Cyber Programs.
