Military Moves You May Have Missed Over the Summer

In case you might have missed these Military Moves over the summer... scroll down to see how many leaders that are important to the Defense IT community took on the heat of a new job, during the hottest months of the year - June, July & August. When the rest of us might be slowing down or on vacation... flags, officers, and enlisted troups are being sent to new command posts, moving to new cities, figuring out new bosses/staffs, and stepping into crises that are already in progress. Please both update your rolodex accordingly, and when you see them... thank them for their service!

While many of us take a well-deserved vacation break over the summer... and things usually slow down a bit in the corporate office... it's important to remember that for anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines & coast guardsmen, June, July & August means a getting a new job assignment.  These summer months are prime-time for service members being sent to new posts, moving to new cities, feeling out new bosses/co-workers, and stepping into crises that are already in progress.

Every 2-3 years most our military flag officers and SES'ers, just like the officers and enlisted that serve under them, spend their summer taking-on an entirely new command position.  Across the Federal Government our Military Services, Combat Support Agencies, Intel & Security organizations take these personnel changes in stride, and in-fact thrive on a culture where letting grass grow under your feet is not an option.  Because all of those changes represent the sacrifice of individual service members AND their families, WE SALUTE THEM. We marvel at how some of the most stable institutions in our democracy rely on the momentum that comes from this change in leadership.

In case you might have missed these Military Moves over the summer... take a look at how many leaders that are important to the Defense IT community took on the heat of a new job, during the hottest months of the year.  Please both update your rolodex accordingly, and when you see them... thank them for their service!  And, if you know of someone we are missing, email info@afceadc.org and we will add them to the list.
