Vacant -- Vice Chair

DC Young AFCEANS (from left, Roxanne Turner, Kate Tong, Chris Mendoza, and Jim Sprague. Not pictured: Emily Ciampa and Kevin Kuhr.) support the second annual West Point Leadership and Ethics conference that took place on March, 11 2009.
Charitable Giving Program
I am pleased to announce that we have approval from the Board to move forward on a Charitable Giving Program. This initiative will offer Young AFCEANs the opportunity to become more involved in the DC Chapter and support and demonstrate good will and selflessness and give back to those that are in need. The selected charity is Comfort for America’s Uniformed Services or CAUSE. I am looking for a Vice-Chair and volunteers from the Young AFCEAN community to assist in rolling out this program. Please email ktong (at) riverbed (dot) com if you are interested.
DC Mathematics, Science and Technology Fair
The Education Committee is in need of Young AFCEANs to support the 63rd Annual DC Mathematics, Science and Technology Fair. Young AFCEANs will support this committee and the Fair as judges. Additionally, Young AFCEANs will be asked to survey the faculty to determine their desires and needs concerning curriculum. The information gathered will provide the Education Committee the information necessary to roll out a successful program for future years. This event is scheduled for Saturday, March 14th at McKinley Technology High School. Please email ktong (at) riverbed (dot) com if you are interested.
OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED:
Monthly Luncheons
The monthly luncheons are a great opportunity to network, listen to senior government officials discuss timely issues relating to technology and armed forces communication. We are looking for volunteers to assist the Chapter in greeting, registration and escorting our government guests and our corporate table holders. All luncheons are held at the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City. We are seeking 4 volunteers per luncheon. If you are interested please email: ktong@riverbed.com
Ethics and Leadership Conference
In its second year, the Ethics and Leadership Conference will bring together over 150 juniors from 35 high schools in the National Capital Region to participate in this one day event to “reawaken the value of honesty, integrity, and respect for others in our society”. This event is sponsored by the West Point Class of ’79. In support of this event the Young AFCEANS will assist with student registration and assist the West Point cadets in facilitating the conference material during the breakout sessions. This event will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at George Mason University. If you are interested in participating please email: ktong@riverbed.com
