DC Young AFCEANS Win International Young AFCEANS Program Award
San Diego, CA - January 25, 2010
Today at AFCEA International's WEST coast conference the Young AFCEANS of AFCEA DC were presented the International "Young AFCEANS Program Award". The Award is given to "the Chapter that has most significantly contributed to the professional development of younger AFCEANs by providing programs and initiatives geared to their unique needs."
The progress made by the AFCEA DC Young AFCEANS has been outstanding, and their membership has doubled in the last two years. The Chapter relies heavily on the Young AFCEANS for vital support for all the major events: 9 Luncheon Panel programs, a very large (1,000 attendee) Winter Gala at the Corcoran, the Spring Military Leadership Awards Gala, and two major Technical Symposia/Conferences. Young AFCEANS are embedded in every level of the planning and execution of these events, and are often the key to our success when the day of execution arrives. Their professional development programs are extremely well run, with outstanding content from Senior Business Development leaders, and offering more than most corporate programs. The Young AFCEANS actively support science fairs and science teaching tools in the DC schools, and Co-Host a Leadership and Ethics Conference for young emerging leaders in High Schools in the Greater Washington Region. In short, the DC Young AFCEANS are part of the backbone of the Chapter.
Accepting the Award on behalf of the Chapter was 2010 Young AFCEANS Vice-Chair Roxanne Turner of Three Wire Systems.
